The Microsoft HoloLens is no dought a game changer in the world of AR. It is not only a great AR headset but has the name Microsoft behind it. That doesn’t mean other companies cannot compete and perhaps beat the product with its own AR glasses.
One company that is aiming to do just that is DAQRI.
The Daqri smart glasses sells for around the same price as the HoloLens. It is a lightweight set of glasses that connects to a discrete body-worn mini pc. The pc has an Intel Core m7 Processor. The headset, which features a 44° field of view, contains a suite of sensors to correctly position you in your environment.
Daqri is targeting professional markets like manufacturing, field services, maintenance and repair ( i.e mechanics), and construction workers.
They also have an interesting smart helmet. Very robocop like!
