The Microsoft HoloLens is a tremendous augmented reality headset. The main competitor to the HoloLens is the Meta 2. The one many have been waiting for is the Magic Leap headset, which is coming out very soon. All these headsets have a lot of promise but the main issue is the cost. It is just not affordable to the everyday user. It would be extremely expensive at this point to equip an entire first responder team with such a device.
When devices are expensive, the market will eventually correct. Lower cost solution will help drive the prices down. One of the most promising devices at an extremely low cost of $99 is the Mira Prism. It is being labeled the google cardboard of augmented reality. It enables the users to use their own smartphones (only IOS at this time) to create an augmented reality headset.
