Breaking technology into the fashion industry is not an easy task. Especially one that doesn’t look like there is a computer on your face or wrist. The technology might be useful in an enterprise application setting but in the consumer world, it has to be a little more discreet. Who wants to wear a computer on their face? The google glass tried really hard to break into the fashion industry by getting celebrities to endorse the product. We are still not there yet. Eventually, we will get to the point where we won’t even know if the jewellery people are wearing has embedded computer chips.
Looks like LG is working exactly that. They have patents for jewellery such as watches on women, necklaces and rings as wearables. If they can make it look fashionable then we could be working towards a world where each of us could be wearing wearables as jewellery that is collecting data.
