What if artificial intelligence and deep learning can find a problem faster and more accurately then a doctor? Perhaps it will never be a full replacement, but rather a specialized aid in the diagnosis process. 12 Sigma was founded by two former Qualcomm employees. The employers have expertise in deep learning and computer vision. They have already come a long way from when the company was started (2015). They are pushing the boundaries of technology use in the medical diagnosis field. They are using AI and deep learning for medical image diagnosis and data analysis. 12 Sigma Technologies is working with hospitals in Beijing and Shanghai to test out their technologies.
This is a potential game-changer in the medical world. It was just a matter of time before AI and deep learning was put to good use. This system has the potential to do cancer screening and that has the potential to save lives. The claim from the 12 Sigma Technologies website is that 12 Sigma’s deep learning technology can detect tiny lesions as small as 0.01% of an image and achieve 98.5% of accuracy. It can scan and diagnose many diseases at the same time. Furthermore, it has the ability to do early disease and rare disease detection, treatment planning, and disease monitoring.
